Life
After graduation from Roosevelt, I attended the U of MN for a year, then went to the US Air Force Academy Prep School from Jul 74-Feb 75. Returned to MPLS, and met my future wife in Jul 75 (married Rene'e J. Goff 9 Jul 77). Worked for MPLS Yellow Taxi/Airport Limo from Mar 76-Dec 81. Also played bass guitar in various bands and musical configurations from 73-82. Joined the Air Force again full time in 1982. Graduated U. of Maryland in 1986 (B.S. in Bus. & MGT). I retired from the Air Force in Sep 2001 after 20 years and 20 days of active service. I am still married to Rene'e (32 years now), and I have 3 sons (ages 30, 25, and 23). After driving taxi again for 5 months from Sep 2001-Feb 2002, I was rehired by the Dept of Defense in Feb 2002 and worked as an Air Force Civilian air traffic controller in the same radar room I had been in for the previous 15 years at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas NV, but unfortunately for me, the Air Force screwed me over on a work issue, terminated me, and I am now no longer working as a controller. But, unfortunately for them, I was rehired by the contract agency that works in the same room as the controllers, so they are still stuck looking at my old grey mug eve...Expand for more
ry day to remind them that I just won't go away that easily. After an appeal to the Merit Systems Protection Board, my case was settled in November 2009. Didn't get rehired back to the ATC facility, but I was given some cash, and more importantly, my record no longer reflects a termination by firing. Not nearly all that I wanted, but definitely not what they wanted either. We'll see what happens next. For now, it's a matter of survival and making the next house payment. Rene'e and I became grand-parents (a boy) for the first time on June 1, 2007 (my middle son & his girflfriend, whom he married on 9 Mar 08). My oldest son has been married for just over 4 years now, and our second grandchild (a girl) was born on 27 Feb 08. Since January 2008, things have been very trying personnally for Rene'e and I, with my work situation and a few other unpleasant things that have tested our nerves, and of course the economic situation, but we plod on and have survived the first half of 2010 so far. Started playing music again by sitting in on Bass Guitar at a few clubs every now and then here in Las Vegas. Hopefully in the second half of 2010, we will see the beginning of positive change for everyone.
